  • Caterpillar Chrysalis Butterfly

    Caterpillar Chrysalis Butterfly

This tree contained many stages of the Caterpillars in their life cycle. The adult stage is what most people think of when they think of butterflies. They look very different from the larva. The caterpillar has a few tiny eyes, stubby legs and very short antennae. The adults have long legs, long antennae, and compound eyes. They can also fly by using their large and colorful wings. The one thing they can’t do is grow.

Photograph was taken with Canon L Marco lens 100m with a Canon DSLR EOS 7D Mk II.

    BEE PHOTOGRAPHY

Usually I use a Macro Lens for Bee Photography a  Canon 60mm or Canon 100mm L lens sometimes I use  a crop camera which allows me stay a little farther away form the bees than full size camera (35mm).

When shooting at higher F stops I use a flash .The higher F stop lets you get  longer focus range of the bee, the smaller f stop has less in focus.

Bees wings move extremely fast ,so you need extremely fast shutter speed . There speed is between 10-20 mph, when flying to a food source, and about 12 mph (17 km/h), when returning with. nectar, pollen, propolis or water. Fruit flies, in comparison, are 80 times smaller than honeybees, but flap their wings only 200 times a second.
