    Seagulls on the Beach

Living near the beach I am able to see these beautiful birds ever day . There ability to fly and navigate the ocean in search of food makes them remarkable birds. These birds are very smart and adaptable to there environment. I took these photos on various walks on the beach mostly in the morning.

  • Water Drop photography

    Water Drop photography

Doing Water Drop Photography is nice to do when there’s nothing outside interesting to shoot. It allows you to be creative , and to have complete control over your environment. I usually use a leaking faucet in the garage ,a clear baking pan ,so I can put various colors under the pan and just little oil to slow the water splashes down.

Shutter speed: A 1/1000 shutter speed will freeze any water droplet. If you’re shooting large splashes, try a shutter speed of around 1/250 Aperture ,a wider aperture between f/8 and f/12 is ideal for a sharp focus on small drop

  • Caterpillar Chrysalis Butterfly

    Caterpillar Chrysalis Butterfly

This tree contained many stages of the Caterpillars in their life cycle. The adult stage is what most people think of when they think of butterflies. They look very different from the larva. The caterpillar has a few tiny eyes, stubby legs and very short antennae. The adults have long legs, long antennae, and compound eyes. They can also fly by using their large and colorful wings. The one thing they can’t do is grow.

Photograph was taken with Canon L Marco lens 100m with a Canon DSLR EOS 7D Mk II.

  • Hummingbird Meets Bird of Paradise

    Hummingbird Meets Bird of Paradise

What came first the plant or the bird? LOL, In this case the pollen attracted the hummingbird.

The Bird of Paradise also means a royalty lineage or bearing due to its association with ruling families. The contrasting petals makes it an obvious symbol of excellence and success. The three bright orange petals and three blue petals which are fused together into a single bud give it appearance of a bird.

Sometimes You A Need Tripod(night photography)

The inconvenience of bringing a tripod is why I rarely use one

However in this  situation,  I knew in advance I be shooting  at night, with a long shutter speed exposure, so I brought one along.

Exposure settings 25 sec. F11 CCR format, Canon SLR

More Info on the name of the Bridge

The two suspension bridges span the west portion of the Bay between San Francisco and Yerba Buena Island. The cantilevered truss and approaches span the east portion of the Bay, from Yerba Buena Island to Oakland .In 1989, San Francisco was struck with an earthquake causing the eastern span from the upper deck to collapse, one week before its scheduled retrofit. n 2006, the American Bridge/Fluor Joint Venture constructed the new East Span (link to SAS on featured projects). The 1,263-foot replacement became the longest, single-towered, self-anchored suspension bridge in the world

  • BEE PHOTOGRAPHY

    BEE PHOTOGRAPHY

Usually I use a Macro Lens for Bee Photography a  Canon 60mm or Canon 100mm L lens sometimes I use  a crop camera which allows me stay a little farther away form the bees than full size camera (35mm).

When shooting at higher F stops I use a flash .The higher F stop lets you get  longer focus range of the bee, the smaller f stop has less in focus.

Bees wings move extremely fast ,so you need extremely fast shutter speed . There speed is between 10-20 mph, when flying to a food source, and about 12 mph (17 km/h), when returning with. nectar, pollen, propolis or water. Fruit flies, in comparison, are 80 times smaller than honeybees, but flap their wings only 200 times a second.
